If you want to read my fiction, definitely check out My AO3 .  Everything I write gets posted there, including commentfic, RPF, fics involving underage characters having sex, and original fiction. Those don't get posted here for various reasons, and some of them are locked to AO3 members only.

All my fic posts here are public, so anybody can read them, whether or not you've friended my fic journal.

My fanfic in this journal is entirely Battlestar Galactica 2003 -  mostly Kara paired with somebody.  I write a lot of smut, some genfic when the prompt strikes me just right. Any fic I write for other fandoms will only be posted to AO3.

I love fic recs, especially for good Kara/Helo stuff, so please tell me about something good you've read. When I find something Kara/Helo, I add it to the Thrace_Agathon collection at AO3.

And newnumbertwo is my trusty beta, even when I forget to acknowledge her in the posts, which I am ashamed to say happens often. We've added laura_mayfair to our writing village, and she's a welcome addition. Sometimes, singerdiva01_sk helps, and we like having her around, too.

Because I've seen this happening all over fandom, I'm putting this out there for the record.

I have no intention of taking my stuff down, either here (it's part of the reason I made a separate fic journal) or on AO3. If something were to happen to me, I can't imagine my daughter or my beta village would do so, either. But...if you save something offline for your own reading use, and for some reason my stuff is no longer available, please feel free to share my works with whomever asks.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds

Always wanted to tell your own Star Trek story about Kirk, Spock, Janeway, Picard, Uhura, Sisko, Major Kira, Archer, Tom Paris, Hoshi, the Borg, U.S.S. Enterprise, etc.?

Well, your time is coming, as Simon & Schuster, as part of its celebration of Star Trek's upcoming 50th anniversary, will bring back its popular Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fan fiction writing contest. The orignal Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was a yearly collection of Trek short stories published between 1998 and 2007, with the amateur writers' works chosen via an open submissions process. The new contest for 2016 will result in ten grand prize winners who will have their stories published in both print and eBook formats as part of an all-new official anthology from Simon & Schuster.

Additionally, the two first prize winners will receive a free self-publishing package from Archway Publishing.

A deadline of January 15, 2016 has been set for submissions by U.S. residents only, and the winners will be announced on March 31, 2016, with the winning stories selected by a panel (to be named in the near future). And, to make the 2016 Star Trek: Strange New Worlds a fully fan-created package, fans will soon be asked to submit their artwork for cover consideration. If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?

If someone in my head wants to talk, I let them. Trying to shut them up always ends badly - like everybody shuts up badly.

I do try to ask them questions so I can figure out who they are and why they've decided now is a nifty time to bulldoze their way into a fic. The answers are usually pretty interesting. And sometimes, it turns out that character belongs in that particular universe, but in a different story, so they're just sort of poking their head in for fun, and to let me know there's more to this universe than I thought there was.

For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?

Kara Thrace. :D

No, really. Whatever fandom I'm writing in, Kara is my girl. She was in the Firefly crossover and the two Buffy crossovers.  The three-sentence fics don't count, because...well, they just don't. Even when I'm writing original fiction, Kara's influencing it somehow.

How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

It's not much of a secret that I never wrote not-school-related fiction in my life before I watched BSG2003. Hmm. Well, that's not entirely true. Somewhere I have a story about Heather Dawn Kensington who loved horses and loved to play the piano. It's about five pages long, and I don't even have to find it to wince about it.

I don't really know what it was about BSG which pulled me in. I only know that when I finished watching it, there were moving pictures and talking characters in my head, and my life hasn't been the same since.

I started this well over two years ago, and it got bogged down in psych details. I'm not completely thrilled with it, but it works as a bridge between the beginning and the end. Constructive criticism is welcome - I have no practical experience with this particular kink or its psychological repercussions.
