lanalucyThis is a red-letter day, as it marks my first experience with reality TV of any kind. I have always enjoyed Debbie Allen and I gotta admit, that song from what, 20 years ago? hooked me. So I rushed home to check it out.
This first hour has been pretty funny - Debbie Allen is just uproariously funny to me, and she was ON tonight! The next segments are performed by the 24 semi-finalists, broken down into groups of 6. It looks like they're going to have a little spot where we get to know each of them, which is good. I am into personal, so all flash and no 'ship just doesn't get it for me.
However, I really enjoyed the movie and the series because of the ongoing relationships. This little "contest" will have to work hard to acquire and retain that feel for me, since it looks like it'll all be about the competition and very little about how the competitors interact with each other.
What can I say? I've held out this long because none of what's come before even remotely appealed to me. We'll see how it goes.
