BSG Remix

I want to do the BSG Remix and narrowed it down to six stories that might be fun for someone else to remix. So thoughts?

References Upon Request aka Twelve This one could be from the point of view of someone else in the bunkroom, maybe. Or how someone else's playtime keeps getting interrupted by Kara and Lee's overshare.
Best Mistake Ever It'd be fun to see what happens on Laura's date with Leoben instead of Lee's date with Kara.
Kara's Last Chance I'd really love to see what happens between Kara's visit to Lee and her visit to Bill - how the relationship between Lee and Julia grows.
First Date I'd personally be more interested in a Kara & Helo friendshippy moment after the date or whatever, but someone could totally write Kara's first date with Sam and how their relationship grows (or doesn't).
Silent Witness There are a wealth of potential Bill, Kara moments in the two years before the mini.
Frakking Cylons! It'd be interesting to have other key scenes from the Old Girl's point of view. Which is maybe not the point of a remix at all.

I have to narrow it down to three for the post, and I'm having trouble doing that. I've never participated in a remix, though I've read the results avidly.

I'm also wondering if I'm spreading my wings a little too much. I want to challenge myself, so I've joined a few challenges  and new comms and written things not in my usual repertoire, but I don't want to push myself so much that I burn out. I hate it when I can't write - I just feel so disconnected from whatever it is that gives me words, but more importantly, from the world. Which is kind of weird, actually.

I'm trying to pick a good selection of characters in mine. All of them are Laura-focused, but I figure if I pick one Laura/Bill and one Laura/Lee and one Laura/Kara, or whatever, then my remixer can write whatever their preference is in terms of pairings. So maybe pick three that have a variety of different characters?

The other thing I'd suggest is that shorter fics are generally easier to remix than longer ones, I think, because there is less that you have to try to take into account in your remix.

Hope that might be a bit of help :)

You know, I didn't think of asking for suggestions, but that's a pretty cool idea :) One of my favorite parts of remix challenges is just seeing what fics people choose.

It is a pretty cool idea :) I'm thinking of asking people myself now, as I'm stuck.

All six of these have remix potential. When I chose, I went for three different POV characters, gen focus characters for some variety. These six all have those possibilities.

I'd love Silent Witness because Bill, Kara will always be one of my favorite things.

I don't think you could go wrong with any of the six of these, though.

I did the same as some other: gave three fics with a total of four different pairings to choose from. I think that gives writers a lot of room to find something they might like. In years past, I chose a 1 and a 3 and both fics turned out pretty well. I signed up with a four this time bc I don't really want to write my regular pairings. I had a lot of fun writing for the Kinky Valentine and that was pushed probably to a 5! Laura/D'Anna is not something I'd expect to like.

What I will say is that the writers generally NEVER remix my fics in the way that I expect, so I would caution against imagining what kind of remix you might like to see. My remixes have always been wonderful, but definitely different than what I imagined. So, knowing that, I chose stories with a little bit of open canon, ones that could allow a writer to branch off, focus on a different POV, create backstory, or to continue the story. Sometimes, drabbles work really well because they're incredibly open, or complex stories with different characters/pairings that can be fodder for different POVs can work well. I like to focus on the ones that could give writers the most flexibility but would also excite me to see written/interpreted differently.

Anyway, hope that all makes sense. I am super excited to see any of my stories remixed. SO FUN!
