It's definitely a way to see different sides of Kara. Until the Kinky Valentine thing, when I had to figure out what pairings to offer, I had only written Kara in girl!pairings as incidental to her other relationships. It was newnumbertwo who said something to the effect of "you can totally write Laura/Kara, and I want you to do that." Writing Kara WITH Laura is making me see something completely new about her, even though I haven't finished writing the series of stories I have planned - I can already see ways in which Kara is fundamentally different, yet still quintessentially Kara.
